Fuling Culture Camp

Family Culture Camps in Fuling!

Interactive Journeys Designed Especially for Children from Fuling

Each "camp week" includes four days in Fuling. Children will see where they lived as babies at the old orphanage, hold and feed babies and play freely in the colorful baby rooms at the new orphanage, meet their caregivers and, if it is possible to arrange, their foster parents. The orphanage staff and caregivers will be on hand to welcome and talk with the children and families, so children can learn what their first months or years in Fuling were like. There is a special bond between children adopted from Fuling. The "camp week" is a rich opportunity for kids to experience their first home in China with other children who were born in the Fuling surroundings and cared for by the same staff and at the same orphanage.

Along with spending time at the orphanage, children and their families will have the chance to roller skate and fly kites at the local park, eat at Fuling restaurants and join in the favorite pastime of night dancing in the city square. Since many of the children were likely born in the countryside, seeing village life is an important part of the week. They spend a day outside of the city in the mountainous, beautiful countryside and eat lunch in a village.

They also tour in a fun and meaningful way highlights of Beijing. Children will run together along the Great Wall and explore in the Forbidden City and the Summer Palace. They see the great cultural heritage in China's capital that is theirs before heading to Fuling.  They will also visit the China Center for Adoption Affairs and the matching room, where families like theirs are made possible. And children will try paper cutting or calligraphy after a visit to the CCAA. The culture camp week is meant to give children positive memories and a better understanding of what it means to be Chinese.

These summer sessions are offered, organized and hosted by the Bridge of Love Adoption Service and the Fuling Social Welfare Institute staff.
